Objectives: 

  • Ensure water@leeds is AI ready.
  • To understand in which water topics AI is already used, and in which it isn’t.
  • To showcase some of the water AI research already underway in water@leeds.
  • To explain what is happening in the University of Leeds context with regards to AI.
  • To explore other aspects of AI (e.g. Large Language Models) that are likely to affect Water Research in the near future.
  • Explore interest in pulling the outcomes into a thought leadership piece to submit to a journal.

  • Introduction to workshop 10 min: Professor Mark Trigg, Associate Director water@leeds
  • AI overview and initiatives across the University, 20 min: Professor David Hogg, School of Computing
  • University of Leeds response to AI, 30 mins (10m talk, 20m questions): Professor Paul Glover – Chair of the Working Group on AI Technologies in Research – WAITR
