Professor Joseph Holden
Director of water@leeds
I’d like to warmly welcome you to water@leeds. We are an interdisciplinary research group established at the University of Leeds in 2008. With more than 100 water science experts drawn from across five of the University’s faculties, we are the largest university water-based research group in the UK. And we are still growing! As well as academic and research staff, water@leeds nurtures more than 50 postgraduate research students working towards PhDs in a variety of research areas.
Our research focuses on bringing together science, engineering, technology and management for real world water issues, most notably as a consequence of climate change and the growing demand for natural resources. We have international expertise drawn from catchment management, water treatment, flow dynamics, biodiversity, sustainability and many other areas. Alongside our research expertise, we also offer consultancy, education and training.
water@leeds works with other organisations regionally, nationally and around the world. We are proud of these links and believe that they strengthen our ability to solve some of the world’s big water problems. As we continue to grow and develop, we hope to build stronger links with our existing collaborators and establish new associations with other individuals, groups or organisations who passionately believe that solutions can be found. So please do get in touch with us if you would like to learn more or would like to be involved as one of our partners. I look forward to hearing from you.
