Water research groups at Leeds UniversityWater research faces a number of challenges due to changing climate and rainfall patterns, growing global populations, shifting land use patterns and increasing water consumption. With a wide variety of experts operating across a range of disciplines, water@leeds can rise to these challenges!

Embracing truly interdisciplinary research, water@leeds offers a 'one-stop-water-research shop'.

water@leeds incorporates four broad research themes. The themes are not discrete and do not represent the limit of water@leeds expertise. The themes serve to concentrate activity within the water@leeds collective of researchers and academics. The themes are:

water@leeds has drawn academics and researchers together from across the University of Leeds and hence can offer research across the disciplines of: biology, chemistry, biochemistry, conservation, ecology, geography, environmental science, geology, geochemistry, economics, civil engineering, microbiology, sociology, political science, design, material science and many more.

Our research is funded by a variety of funding bodies including research councils (NERC, EPSRC, ESRC), government (Defra, Environment Agency) and international sources (European Union, UNESCO), and through industrial sponsors such as Yorkshire Water.
